Age-corrected measurement of extracellular volume fraction in remote normal myocardium is correlated with extent of risk area in AMI patients

چکیده
Background Reduction of post-contrast T1 in remote normal myocardium was recently reported in patients with AMI, indicating that extracellular matrix expansion occurs in remote myocardium early after MI. Such extracellular matrix expansion observed in non-infarcted myocardium without edema seems to be one of key factors causing LV remodeling after MI. However, since the previous study only determined post-contrast T1, alteration of extracellular volume fraction (ECV) in remote myocardium early after MI is not investigated quantitatively. Consequently, we sought to quantify ECV in remote normal myocardium in AMI patients using T1 mapping before and after gadolinium contrast with hematocrit and heart-rate corrections, and investigate the association between ECV expansion in remote normal myocardium and extents of infarction and area at risk.

Abstract Background: The correlation between QT dispersion (QTd) and myocardial ischemia is controversial. The main purpose of current study was to investigate the relationship between QTd and the severity and extent of myocardial ischemia. Methods: In this cross sectional study, 100 patients with suspected coronary artery diseases (CAD) were studied. Based on the results of the myocardial ...

OBJECTIVES In the setting of reperfused acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the authors sought to compare prediction of contractile recovery by infarct extracellular volume (ECV), as measured by T1-mapping cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), with late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) transmural extent. BACKGROUND The transmural extent of myocardial infarction as assessed by LGE CMR is a strong predi...

Background and Objective: Current evidence indicates that extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling is a component of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) has a role in early atherosclerosis, plaque rupture and myocardial infarction (MI). The necessity of inhibition of ECM remodeling and subsequent injuries in patients with AMI suggests that MMP might be involved in ...
متن کاملExtracellular volume imaging by magnetic resonance imaging provides insights into overt and sub-clinical myocardial pathology.
AIMS Conventional late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac magnetic resonance can detect myocardial infarction and some forms of non-ischaemic myocardial fibrosis. However, quantitative imaging of extracellular volume fraction (ECV) may be able to detect subtle abnormalities such as diffuse fibrosis or post-infarct remodelling of remote myocardium. The aims were (1) to measure ECV in myocardia...
متن کاملExtracellular volume fraction mapping in the myocardium, part 2: initial clinical experience
BACKGROUND Diffuse myocardial fibrosis, and to a lesser extent global myocardial edema, are important processes in heart disease which are difficult to assess or quantify with cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) using conventional late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) or T1-mapping. Measurement of the myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV) circumvents factors that confound T1-weighted i...
